23rd, 2006. Focus the Nation Launch
Workshop at Middlebury College.A major new educational initiative
on global warming aiming to provide you with an opportunity to help build
a national conversation about stabilizing the world's climate and moving
towards a hopeful, clean-energy future. Focus the Nation will culminate
with national symposia that will be held simultaneously on thousands of
campuses across the country on January 31st, 2008. We believe that Focus
the Nation can become the "Earth Day 1970" catalyzing event that
turns the national conversation about global warming from fatalism towards
determination. This initiative has the potential to focus national attention
for a day around a serious discussion of climate stabilization. And building
on the leadership and pragmatism of today's youth climate movement, Focus
the Nation can help all Americans to envision and work towards a more hopeful
clean-energy future. In order to begin to design and execute this ambitious
initiative, we are holding a one-day launch workshop on September 23rd (Saturday,
10am-5pm) at . Noted author Bill McKibben is invited to keynote this workshop.
Who should attend this conference? All university, college, high school
and middle school faculty, students and staff concerned about global warming;

to change. In those moments we build toward movement. We have organized
this conference as an opportunity to bring our broad communities together

work to push ourselves forward and increase our movement to build a better
world. | ||||
