30 Years of Teaching for Change

Founded in 1990, Teaching for Change is celebrating 30 years of providing teachers and parents with tools to create schools where students learn to read, write, and change the world.

Here we share highlights from Teaching for Change’s 30 year history of preparing curriculum and resources for teaching outside the textbook on critical issues, developing and implementing an innovative approach to parent-school engagement, screening and promoting multicultural literature for the classroom, on the ground work with teachers and parents in the D.C. metro area, and much more.

In 2016, Teaching for Change hosted a celebration in Washington, D.C. on its 25th anniversary.
